Pokhara is a metropolitan city in central Nepal, serving as the capital of Gandaki Province. It is the second most populous city in Nepal after Kathmandu and the country's largest metropolitan city in terms of area. The city also serves as the headquarters of Kaski District. Pokhara is located 200 kilometers (120 miles) west of the capital, Kathmandu, and takes 7-8 hours by road. Alternatively, you can go by plane, which takes only 30 minutes. The city is on the shore of Phewa Lake, and sits at an elevation of approximately 822 m. The Annapurna Range, with three out of the ten highest peaks in the world—Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, and Manaslu—is within 24–56 km of the valley.
Pokhara is considered the tourism capital of Nepal, being a base for trekkers undertaking the Annapurna Circuit through the Annapurna Conservation Area region of the Annapurna ranges in the Himalayas.
Inside the Pokhara valley, there are many historical and natural places to visit. Some of them are as follows:
On your visit, we will cover some of the major selected places as we have to move to Tansen from Pokhara.
Tansen is a municipality and the administrative center of Palpa District in the "hills'' of central Nepal. It is located on the highway between Butwal and Pokhara, on the crest of the Mahabharat Range or Lesser Himalaya overlooking the valley of the Kali Gandaki River to the north. The highway bypasses the town center on the west, protecting pedestrian amenities in the central maze of steep, narrow, winding alleys lined with Newari shophouses and temples.
Tansen is also a popular tourist destination.

Lumbini is a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the Rupandehi District of Lumbini Province in Nepal. It is located 281.7 km away from Kathmandu via Prithvi Highway and Mahendra Highway. From Tansen, it takes 2 hours and 7 minutes by road, covering a distance of 79.8 km.
It is the place where, according to Buddhist tradition, Queen Maya gave birth to Siddhartha Gautama around 566 BC. Gautama, who, according to Buddhist tradition, achieved Enlightenment around 528 BCE, became Shakyamuni Buddha and founded Buddhism. Lumbini is one of many magnets for pilgrimage that sprang up in places pivotal to the life of the Buddha.
Lumbini has a number of old temples, including the Mayadevi Temple, and several new temples, funded by Buddhist organizations from various countries. Most of the temples have already been completed, and some are still under construction. Many monuments, monasteries, a museum, and the Lumbini International Research Institute are also within the holy site. Additionally, there is the Puskarini, or Holy Pond, where Mayadevi, the Buddha's mother, is believed to have taken the ritual dip before his birth and where he also had his first bath. At other sites near Lumbini, earlier Buddhas were, according to tradition, born, achieved ultimate Enlightenment, and finally relinquished their earthly forms. The Government of Bangladesh is currently constructing a major Buddhist Monastery in Lumbini.
Thousands of locals and international tourists come to visit this place. Most of them are from Asian countries like India, China, Tibet, Bhutan, and Japan who believe in Buddhism.
Chitwan District is one of the popular destinations in Nepal, known for its oldest National Park, which boasts rich flora and fauna. It is home to one of the last populations of single-horned Asiatic rhinoceros and serves as a refuge for the Bengal Tiger.
The name "Chitwan" is derived from two Sanskrit words: "Citta," meaning heart, and "vana," meaning jungle/forest. Therefore, Chitwan is often referred to as the heart of the jungle, characterized by dense forests that house wildlife such as leopards, Bengal tigers, rhinos, elephants, and more.
Located in the southwestern corner of Bagmati Province, Chitwan is approximately 198.0 km away from Kathmandu via Kanti Rajpath and Mahendra Highway, taking about 5 hours and 58 minutes to reach. Bharatpur, the largest city in Nepal after Kathmandu, serves as the administrative center of Chitwan. It is a commercial and service hub for South Central Nepal, offering higher education, healthcare, and transportation services in the region. Thousands of local and international tourists visit Chitwan to immerse themselves in nature and explore religious sites like Shivaghat, Devghat, and Bikram Baba Temple.
